I just love my senior sessions. And I especially love how I have things set up this year where I get to do mini head shot sessions for all my senior models during the summer. It gives me a chance to get to know my subject a little, and gives them the opportunity to warm up for the camera before the “big” shoot later in the year.  So, on an extremely hot day a  few weeks ago I met up with another fantastic Leander High School 2011 senior, Katey!Austin Senior Portraits, Dawn Fry Photo

40 Years | Austin Family Photos

Several months ago a sweet friend of mine asked me if I would photograph her family reunion this summer.  For the first time in a long time, her WHOLE family was getting together – all the cousins and the grandchildren would be in one place.  And my friend, she is a photographer – and she didn’t want the sole responsibility of photographing the event.

That is one of the downsides to being the photographer in the family; you never get to actually be IN the photos!  And, half the time you miss all the socializing of an event because your head is behind a big black box the whole time. :) So of course, I could not turn down her sweet begging, pleading, request and on the day of the big event I headed out to her sister’s new house.

I was blissfully surprised when I discovered her sister lived about a mere 3 miles from me. YAY! :D

I just love this family.  They have been with me as friends and as clients from the beginning of my business.  And every time I get to photograph them and their children I have the best time. They are so sweet and hospitable and funny! And they, luckily for me, produce gorgeous children!

This turned out to be one of my favorites for a special reason.

My guess is it’s not exactly a butterfly, but rather some sort of small dragon fly or something else entirely. But it looks like a cute little orange butterfly checking out my gorgeous model.  Either way I was glad to have it in the photo too. :)

I will tell you more about M’s story when I am finished with all the images. I just wanted to give you (and her family) a little bit more of a “peek”.
